Mark
Whited has been a resident of Reston for over a decade, and has also
lived in Franklin Farm. His son Jay and daughter Kelsey are graduates
of South Lakes and Oakton High Schools,
and are currently in college.
As a
retired Marine officer, Mark understands the need for bold and
principled leadership in challenging times. He knows what it will take
to get things done in Richmond.
Mark
has served his country all over the globe, to include the
Persian Gulf,
Japan, Norway, and the Pentagon.
He was a Logistics Officer with assignments to include serving as the
Logistics Coordinator for a NATO bilateral prepositioning program in
Norway, as an advisor to the Saudi Marines, and in the Joint Chiefs of
Staff. Since retiring from the Marines, he has been a controller for a
small business and currently is a consultant to a multi-billion dollar
U.S. Navy program.
In
addition to his impressive military and professional career, Mark has
also been an active member of the Reston
community. He coached his son’s little league baseball teams from
1990-2000 and was involved with his children’s school activities. Mark
is a member of the VFW, the American Legion,
and the Washington Lodge of the Sons of Norway.
Mark
graduated from Miami University, Oxford, Ohio, with a
BA in Political Science and received his MBA from National University in
San Diego.
